How to read a check.uk.app report

Turn diagnostic observations into a useful next step.

check.uk.app technical team · Reviewed 26 September 2026

Start with the exact URL

The report describes the submitted URL at the time of the check. The main HTTP test can follow redirects; the protocol test checks the submitted HTTPS endpoint without following redirects. A homepage result does not cover every page or subdomain.

Read the text as well as the colour

Green means that the named observation was confirmed. It is not a security certificate for the entire website. Yellow identifies something to review. Grey means information, incomplete evidence or an unavailable check. Click a section with an arrow to open the underlying data.

Separate a failed probe from a failed website

An HTTP 403 can mean the site blocks this probe. An HTTP/3 timeout can be caused by UDP filtering. Missing IPv6 connectivity on a probe says nothing about the target’s IPv6 service. Check the exact message before changing your server.

Verify one change at a time

Record the original result, change one relevant setting and repeat the same check. Reports expire after one hour; download a copy if you need a longer record. Do not submit URLs containing passwords or private access tokens.
